No drill front license plate mount for Fiat 500 under $5

No drill front license plate mount for Fiat 500 under $5

UPDATE: Some people have mentioned in the comments that this approach may prevent proper intake. While I never had any issues, you may want to try a different placement to avoid covering so much of the grill.

After getting a ticket for driving without a front license plate in California I start looking at how to mount the license plate on my Fiat 500. Not only does the Fiat 500 not have a front mounting bracket, there isn’t really a good place to drill into the plastic to add one. For $5 I was able to get a basic license plate mounting kit.

What you need:

Using two large zip ties, I mounted the kit to the grill and screwed the license plate. You may want to make two 90 degree bends in the end of the zip tie. This will make feeding it back through the grill easier. The whole process took about 5 mins. I will find out in court tomorrow if this is an acceptable way to mount a license plate. :)

You are a life saver. I didn’t want to deface my baby by drilling into its face! THANKS!!!

How was court? Was this an acceptable mount?

Everything worked out. They had me run out and take a picture with my phone before they signed off on it. So I made the original post I have not had any problems and the mount is just as secure as it was when I installed it.

Would this work on my fiat Pop? I’m wondering because the grill is smaller on that model !

I hope you don’t end up having engine problems from lack of airflow. You’re blocking the intake.

Your the only smart one on this thread. Hell yes, he’s blocking the intake. all these other poor dopes are gonna do this and be reducing their intake as well.

You are probably right. If I still had this car I would move it down and to the right to avoid covering a third of the intake. That being said, I never had performance or gas mileage issues.

Genius! I can’t believe I was about to drop $50 on a no-drill mounting bracket.

Will this work for the 500e sport?

Great idea! Had to attach ever so slightly different but it worked like a charm for my 2015 Fiat 500e … so far. It’s only been on there for a few days now!

    Thanks,

    Steve

Thanks for your idea! We bought an old 94 Toyota and there was nowhere to put the plate! You saved the day!
